Shilpapaddiam is the brainchild of the reputed Indian sculptor Valsan Koorma Kolleri. Located in Pattiam village in the Malabar region of Kerala, Shilpapaddiam has 7200 square feet of built space in the form of studios, residencies and exhibition space.

Pattiam village is famous as the birthplace of Vagbhatananda Guru, who was a major social reformist and linguist. The village is also known for its rich resource of traditional building materials. A group of young architects namely Kunchan Garg, Rajasekhara Menon(CEPT) and Biju Bhaskar(MIT), led a team of expert workers to build the centre.

Care has been taken to use local resources in a manner that respects the socio-cultural and physical environment.
